About Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), Sonipat, popularly known as NLU Sonipat, was established in 2012 under the Haryana State Legislature Act No. 15 of 2012. Initially named National Law University, Haryana, it was later renamed in 2014 as a tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution.
Located in the Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Rai, Sonipat, the university is part of a hub that houses more than thirteen renowned institutions, providing a vibrant academic ecosystem. DBRANLU offers five-year integrated B.A. LL.B (Hons.) programs, LL.M courses, and doctoral research opportunities, all approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The curriculum emphasizes legal research, advocacy, internships, moot courts, and interdisciplinary learning, preparing students for careers in litigation, judiciary, corporate law, public policy, and academia.
The campus is being developed with modern infrastructure including classrooms, moot court halls, library, computer labs, hostels, and sports facilities, ensuring a holistic environment for legal education. Guided by its mission of “Justice Through Knowledge”, NLU Sonipat has quickly emerged as one of the premier law universities in India, attracting students from across the country.
