About Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT)
The Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT), Jodhpur, founded in 1960, is one of the oldest institutes in India dedicated to promoting handloom and textile education, research, and training. Established under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, IIHT Jodhpur plays a crucial role in supporting the handloom sector by producing skilled professionals and technologists.
The institute offers Diploma in Handloom & Textile Technology (DHTT) and B.Tech programs in Textile Technology (through RTU Kota affiliation). The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with practical training, covering areas such as fabric design, weaving technology, textile chemistry, dyeing & printing, quality control, and textile management.
The campus at Jodhpur is equipped with weaving labs, textile testing labs, design studios, computer centers, a library, hostels, and workshops. IIHT also conducts skill development programs, industry training, and research projects to support artisans, entrepreneurs, and textile industries.
