About National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA)

The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur, founded in 1976, is India’s premier government institution dedicated to Ayurveda. Initially established as Rajkiya Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in 1946, it was upgraded to NIA in 1976, becoming the country’s first National Institute for Ayurveda Education and Research. NIA is a Deemed-to-be University (De Novo) under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and is recognized by the UGC. It offers Undergraduate (BAMS), Postgraduate (MD/MS in Ayurveda), and Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs, with admissions conducted through NEET-UG and AIAPGET counseling. The institute also runs specialized Ayurvedic research projects, clinical trials, and patient care services. The urban campus in Jaipur houses modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, herbal gardens, a digital library, seminar halls, hostels, and a 300-bed Ayurvedic hospital.
