About National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Jodhpur, founded in 2010, is a premier government institute for fashion education under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Initially operating from a temporary campus at Sojati Gate, it now functions from its permanent campus at Karwar, Jodhpur.
NIFT Jodhpur offers four-year undergraduate programs and two-year postgraduate programs in areas of Design, Technology, and Fashion Management. Popular courses include B.F.Tech (Bachelor of Fashion Technology), B.Des (Fashion Design, Textile Design, Accessory Design), and M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management). Admissions are conducted through the NIFT Entrance Exam (NIFTEE), followed by situation tests and interviews.
The campus has strong industry collaborations, especially with local craftsmen and artisans, as Jodhpur is a major handicraft hub. Facilities include design studios, computer labs, textile labs, resource library, hostels, and seminar halls.
