Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), established in 1920, is one of India's most prestigious central public universities located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Originally founded as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875 by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, it achieved university status through the Aligarh Muslim University Act. As an Institute of National Importance, AMU is approved by UGC and holds NAAC A+ accreditation with CGPA 3.35.
