Anna University, located on Sardar Patel Road in Guindy, Chennai, is one of India’s most prestigious public state universities, established on 4 September 1978. Named after former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. N. Annadurai, it has grown into a leading institution for higher education in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, and Applied Sciences. The main campus in Guindy spans about 185 acres and is urban in character, housing several constituent colleges including the College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), Alagappa College of Technology (ACT), Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), and the School of Architecture and Planning (SAP). Admissions Open 2026: Courses, Eligibility & Fees

Anna University offers 204 programs across engineering, technology, architecture, and applied sciences. Admissions to B.Tech/B.E programs are conducted through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA), which is based on Class 12 marks (no JEE Main required). For MBA and MCA, admissions are through TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test). Postgraduate engineering programs (M.Tech/M.E) require GATE or TANCET scores, while Ph.D. admissions are based on entrance exams and interviews.

Campus Life and Facilities

The university’s campuses in Chennai are well-equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, central libraries, hostels, sports complexes, medical facilities, and innovation centers. Each campus has its own specialization: CEG is known for core engineering, MIT for aerospace and avionics, ACT for chemical engineering and technology, and SAP for architecture.
