About
Assam Agricultural University (AAU), located at Nowchaliah Gaon in Jorhat, Assam, is a state government university established in 1969. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) & 12(B), making it eligible for central assistance. As the first agricultural university in Northeast India, AAU plays a pivotal role in advancing agricultural education, research, and extension services across the region.

Admissions Open 2026: Courses, Eligibility & Fees
Admissions at AAU are conducted through entrance examinations and merit-based selection. Undergraduate programs such as B.Sc. Agriculture, B.V.Sc., B.F.Sc., and B.Sc. Home Science require qualifying exam marks and university entrance tests. Postgraduate programs like M.Sc., M.V.Sc., and M.F.Sc. involve entrance exams and interviews, while Ph.D. admissions depend on entrance tests, research proposals, and preference for ICAR fellowship holders.
