About
Assam Skill University (ASU), located in Mangaldoi, District Darrang, Assam, is a state government university established in 2020. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. ASU was founded with the vision of promoting skill-based education, vocational training, and industry-oriented programs to empower youth and strengthen the workforce in Northeast India.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programs in skill development, vocational studies, engineering, management, healthcare, and applied sciences. Its campus is equipped with modern classrooms, laboratories, a central library, computer centers, hostels, and training facilities. Admissions Open 2026: Courses, Eligibility & Fees
Admissions at ASU are based on merit and eligibility criteria aligned with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). Certificate and diploma programs require Class 10 or Class 12 qualifications, undergraduate programs such as engineering, management, and hospitality require Class 12 with relevant subjects, postgraduate programs require a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field, and Ph.D. programs require a master’s degree along with an entrance test and research proposal. Applications are submitted online through the university’s portal.
Campus Life and Facilities
The permanent campus at Mangaldoi, about 70 km from Guwahati, spans 83 acres and is equipped with smart classrooms, high-speed internet, advanced computer labs, skill training centers, and industry-grade workshops such as CAD/CAM studios, EV assembly labs, and food technology labs. It also has a digital library, separate hostels for boys and girls, and sports and recreation facilities.
