Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU), Lucknow was formally established in 2020 under the Uttar Pradesh Act No. 42 of 2018, which had been passed on 22 December 2018. The Act came into force on 15 October 2020, making ABVMU a state collegiate affiliating university. It is responsible for granting affiliation to all government and private medical, dental, nursing, and paramedical colleges across Uttar Pradesh, ensuring uniformity and quality in medical education throughout the state. The university headquarters is located at Chack Ganjaria Road, Golf City, Lucknow, with its administrative office at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Vibhuti Khand, Lucknow. ABVMU’s vision is to become a premier hub for medical teaching, training, and research, supporting healthcare professionals across disciplines. It plays a pivotal role in standardizing medical education and fostering innovation in healthcare delivery in Uttar Pradesh.
