Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), formerly known as Himachal Pradesh University of Health Sciences, was established in 2017 and is located at the SLBS Medical College & Hospital Campus, Ner Chowk, District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. It is a state government university, constituted by the Government of Himachal Pradesh to regulate and promote quality education in medical and health sciences. Admissions Open 2026: Courses , Eligibility & Fees

AMRU was founded in 2019 under the Himachal Pradesh University of Health Sciences Act and later renamed to honor Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It is a state government university recognized by the UGC, Indian Nursing Council, and Dental Council of India. The university offers UG and PG programs in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Nursing, Paramedical, and Pharmacy. Admissions are based on NEET UG (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Sc Nursing), NEET PG (MD/MS), NEET MDS, AIAPGET (Ayurveda PG), and AMRU’s own entrance exams for allied health sciences. Eligibility requires 10+2 with PCB for UG programs, MBBS/BDS/BAMS for PG programs, and a master’s degree for doctoral studies. Fees are highly subsidized, with B.Sc Nursing costing around ₹19,000 per year, while MBBS and BDS programs follow government-regulated fee structures.
