About Avinashilingam University
Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science & Higher Education for Women, located on Bharathi Park Road in Saibaba Colony, Coimbatore, is one of India’s pioneering institutions dedicated to women’s education. It was established in 1957 by Padma Bhushan Dr. T. S. Avinashilingam, a visionary patriot and educationist, under the auspices of the Avinashilingam Education Trust. Initially starting as an aided college with just 45 women students, it has grown into a full-fledged Deemed-to-be University recognized by the UGC.
The university is accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC and has been ranked within the top 100 universities in India by NIRF 2025. It offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across disciplines such as Home Science, Engineering, Science, Arts, Education, and Management. Admissions are conducted through merit-based processes and national-level entrance exams like CUET for certain programs.
