Bhattadev University, located at Pathsala in Barpeta District, Assam, is a state government university established in 2017. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university was named after the great Vaishnavite saint-scholar Bhattadev, known as the father of Assamese prose, with the vision of promoting higher education, research, and cultural enrichment in Assam.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs in disciplines such as Arts, Sciences, Commerce, Education, and Social Sciences. Its campus is equipped with modern classrooms, laboratories, a central library, computer centers, hostels, and sports facilities. Bhattadev University, located in Pathsala, Bajali district of Assam, was established under the Assam Act No. XXXVI of 2017 by upgrading the historic Bajali College. It is a state public university recognized by the Government of Assam and affiliated with Gauhati University before becoming autonomous. Admissions are offered across popular courses such as BA, B.Sc., B.Com, MA, M.Sc., and Ph.D. programs. For undergraduate courses, CUET scores are considered along with merit-based eligibility, while postgraduate admissions rely on entrance tests and merit lists. The admission process is conducted online, followed by counseling and document verification. Fees remain affordable, with BA programs costing around ₹12,000–₹14,000 per annum, making higher education accessible to students from diverse backgrounds.

Spread across 16 acres, the Bhattadev University campus is designed to support holistic student development. Scholarship & Fee Concessions
Bhattadev University implements multiple government scholarship schemes such as the State Merit Scholarship and Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships. Special concessions are available for SC, ST, OBC, and minority students, with fee waivers or reductions for economically weaker sections. The institution also provides merit-based scholarships for toppers and financially supports needy students.
