The University of Burdwan, popularly known as Burdwan University, was established on June 15, 1960 at Burdwan Rajbati, Raiganj, Bardhaman, West Bengal. Founded under the vision of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and Sir Uday Chand Mahtab, it is a state public university with the Governor of West Bengal as its Chancellor. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and affiliated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the institution has grown into one of the largest universities in the state, with more than 39 postgraduate departments and 74 affiliated colleges.
The university offers a wide range of academic programs including undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, M.Phil, and doctoral courses across disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Engineering, and Management.
