Darjeeling Hills University (DHU), located at Jogighat, Mungpoo in Darjeeling district, West Bengal, was established under the Greenfield University Act, 2018 and formally renamed in 2019. It is a state public university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), with the Governor of West Bengal serving as Chancellor. The university became operational in 2021, marking a significant step in expanding higher education opportunities in the hill region of North Bengal. The university currently offers postgraduate programs in Arts and Sciences, with plans to expand into more disciplines in the coming years.
