The Deccan College Postgraduate & Research Institute (DCPGRI), located at Yerawada, Pune, is a public deemed-to-be university. Established in 1821, it is the third oldest educational institution in India. Initially founded as Hindoo College under Mountstuart Elphinstone, it later evolved into Deccan College and was granted deemed university status in 1990.
It is recognized by the UGC and accredited with NAAC ‘A’ grade. The university specializes in Archaeology, Linguistics, and Sanskrit & Lexicography, offering postgraduate (M.A.), M.Phil, and Ph.D. programs. Admissions to M.A. programs are merit-based, while M.Phil and Ph.D. admissions require an entrance test, with exemptions for candidates holding NET/SET/JRF qualifications.
