The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), located at Girinagar, Pune, is a government institution and a deemed-to-be university under the Department of Defence Research & Development, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Originally established in 1952 as the Institute of Armament Studies, it was later renamed DIAT and granted deemed university status in 2006. The institute specializes in advanced education and research in defence science and technology, offering postgraduate (M.Tech), doctoral (Ph.D.), and training programs in areas such as Aerospace Engineering, Armament Technology, Materials Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Defence Electronics.
