Dharanidhar University, situated in Keonjhar, Odisha, is a newly established public state university that officially came into existence in 2023 after being upgraded from the historic Dharanidhar Autonomous College. The institution has a rich legacy dating back to 1957 when it was founded as Keonjhar Science College, later renamed Dharanidhar College, and eventually granted autonomous status before achieving full university recognition. This transition marked a significant milestone in expanding higher education opportunities in northern Odisha, particularly in the mineral-rich and tribal-dominated region of Keonjhar. The university campus spans 154 acres and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
