Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University (DBRAU), Agra, Uttar Pradesh—formerly known as Agra University—was established on 1 July 1927, making it one of the oldest universities in India. It was later renamed in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. The university is recognized by the UGC and functions as a state public university. Its motto, “Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya” (Lead us from darkness to light), reflects its mission to impart knowledge and enlightenment.
