Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU), Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh is the newest National Law University (NLU) in India, established in 2024. It is the second NLU in Uttar Pradesh, after Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow. The university is recognized by the UGC and approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court serves as its Chancellor, while the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is the Chairperson.
Located at Gaddopur, Phaphamau, Prayagraj, RPNLU has a residential campus designed to provide world-class legal education. The university offers a five-year integrated BA LL.B. (Hons.) program, focusing on both theoretical and practical legal training. It also conducts Ph.D. programs in Law, with admissions through CLAT (Common Law Admission Test).
RPNLU emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, ethical values, and global collaborations. It has already signed MoUs with BRICS Law School and the University of Pretoria, South Africa, reflecting its international outlook. The university also publishes the RPNLU Law Review, encouraging research and academic discourse. Its vision is to produce ethically grounded, socially responsible, and professionally competent legal experts.
Admissions Open 2026: Courses, Eligibility & Fees
RPNLU was established under the U.P. Act No. 26 of 2020 and renamed in August 2023 to honor India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. It is part of the Consortium of NLUs, making it the second NLU in Uttar Pradesh after RMLNLU Lucknow. The university offers BA LLB (Hons.), LLM, and Ph.D. in Law. Admissions are conducted through CLAT UG and CLAT PG, while Ph.D. admissions are based on UGC NET or university entrance exams. Eligibility requires 10+2 with 45% marks for BA LLB, LLB degree for LLM, and postgraduation with 55% marks for Ph.D.. Fees are competitive, with BA LLB costing ₹3.14 lakh annually and LLM ₹1.99 lakh annually.

Facilities include moot court halls, legal aid clinics, ICT-enabled classrooms, central library, hostels, sports grounds, and auditoriums.
