About Gurukul Vidyapeeth University
Gurukul Vidyapeeth University (GVU), located in Melli, District Namchi, Sikkim, is a newly established private university created under the Gurukul Vidyapeeth University Act, 2024 passed by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university was founded with the vision of blending traditional Gurukul-inspired learning values with modern academic disciplines, aiming to provide holistic education that integrates knowledge, skills, and ethics.
GVU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs across diverse fields such as Engineering, Management, Law, Commerce, Humanities, Agriculture, and Allied Sciences. Its curriculum is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), focusing on employability, entrepreneurship, and skill development. The university also emphasizes research, innovation, and industry collaboration to prepare students for global competitiveness.
The Melli campus is designed to be eco-friendly and student-centric, featuring modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, hostels, and digital learning facilities. GVU also plans to establish vocational training centers and incubation hubs to support startups and skill-based education.
