Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), established in 2005, is a premier deemed-to-be university located at the Training School Complex, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai. Founded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, HBNI unifies the academic programs of several constituent institutions such as Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), and Institute for Plasma Research (IPR).
The university is recognized by the UGC and accredited by NAAC, with a strong emphasis on nuclear science, engineering, physical sciences, chemical sciences, mathematical sciences, life sciences, and medical sciences. HBNI was created to integrate academic programs across DAE institutions such as BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre), IGCAR (Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research), and TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research). The university offers M.Sc., M.Tech., M.Phil., Ph.D., and D.Sc. programs in nuclear science, engineering, health physics, and interdisciplinary research.
