About Karnatak University

Karnatak University, Dharwad, was established in 1949 and became a statutory university in 1950 under the Karnatak University Act. Located in Pavate Nagar, Dharwad, it is a government-owned public university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. Spread across 888 acres, it is the second oldest university in Karnataka, offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Education, Social Sciences, and Management. The university has five constituent colleges and several postgraduate centers under its jurisdiction.
