Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (Central Hindi Institute), Agra is a premier national institution dedicated to the promotion, teaching, training, and research in Hindi language. It was established in 1960 by the Government of India under the Ministry of Education as an autonomous body called the Kendriya Hindi Shikshan Mandal. The headquarters is located at Hindi Sansthan Marg, Agra, with eight regional centres across India: Delhi (1970), Hyderabad (1976), Guwahati (1978), Shillong (1987), Mysore (1988), Dimapur (2003), Bhubaneswar (2003), and Ahmedabad (2006).
The institute plays a vital role in national integration by promoting Hindi as a pan-Indian language, in line with Article 351 of the Indian Constitution. Its activities include teacher training, curriculum development, comparative linguistics, language analysis, and preparation of teaching materials. It also undertakes international outreach programs to spread Hindi globally. In May 2025, Kendriya Hindi Sansthan was granted the status of an honorary university, further strengthening its academic and research credentials
