Krantisurya Tantya Bhil Vishwavidyalaya (KTBU), located on Bistan Road in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, is a government state university established under the Madhya Pradesh Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 1973. The university was founded in memory of Tantya Bhil, popularly known as Tantya Mama, a revered tribal freedom fighter and social reformer who played a significant role in the resistance against British colonial rule during the 19th century. Its establishment reflects the state’s commitment to strengthening higher education in the Nimar region and honoring the legacy of tribal heroes.
KTBU affiliates nearly 80 colleges across districts including Khargone, Barwani, Khandwa, and Burhanpur, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in disciplines such as Arts, Commerce, Science, Agriculture, Physical Education, and Computer Applications. The university provides more than 40 courses, including BA, B.Sc., B.Com, B.Sc. Agriculture, MA (Economics), and PGDCA, ensuring diverse academic opportunities for students.
The campus, spread over approximately 127 acres along the Khargone–Indore road, is being developed with modern infrastructure to support teaching, research, and extracurricular activities. By focusing on inclusivity and regional development, KTBU aims to empower the youth of the tribal and rural communities in western Madhya Pradesh, blending academic excellence with social responsibility
