Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), Guwahati, Assam, established in 2005, is a government university located at Resham Nagar, Khanapara, Kamrup (M). Recognized under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, KKHSOU is dedicated to providing accessible and flexible higher education through the open and distance learning mode, catering to diverse learners across the region.

Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), Guwahati was established in 2005 by the Government of Assam and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Distance Education Council (DEC). It is the only state open university in Assam, dedicated to providing flexible and affordable higher education through distance and blended learning modes. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and doctoral programs in disciplines such as arts, commerce, management, computer applications, education, and social sciences. Admissions are conducted on a merit basis without entrance exams, making higher education accessible to working professionals, rural students, and lifelong learners. Eligibility requires 10+2 for UG programs, a relevant bachelor’s degree for PG programs, and postgraduation with 55% marks for Ph.D. programs. Fees are highly affordable, typically ranging between ₹5,000–₹25,000 per year, depending on the program.
