About Madurai Kamraj University

Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), located at Palkalai Nagar in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is a state public university established in 1966. Named after the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, K. Kamaraj, the institution was founded with the vision of expanding access to higher education in southern Tamil Nadu. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC, consistently ranking among India’s leading universities. MKU has a sprawling campus of 750 acres, housing 20 schools, 77 departments, and 21 centers, offering programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral levels. Its academic portfolio spans Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Management, Education, and Performing Arts, with strong emphasis on research and innovation.
