Maharaja Ganga Singh University (MGSU), Bikaner, established in 2003, is a state government university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Named after Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner, the university serves as a major academic hub for western Rajasthan, offering quality higher education and promoting regional research and development.

Maharaja Ganga Singh University (MGSU), Bikaner, was established in 2003 by the Government of Rajasthan and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It affiliates more than 250 colleges across Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, and Sri Ganganagar districts. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs in Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, Law, and Management. Admissions are conducted through CUET UG/PG, state-level entrance exams, and merit-based selection depending on the program. Eligibility requires 10+2 with relevant subjects for UG courses and graduation in relevant disciplines for PG programs. Fee highlights show that UG programs cost between ₹8,000–₹20,000 per year, while PG programs range between ₹12,000–₹30,000 per year, making MGSU one of the most affordable public universities in Rajasthan.

MGSU provides financial support through government scholarships (SC/ST/OBC, minority, EWS) and institutional merit-based concessions. Fee waivers are extended to economically weaker sections, while merit scholarships are awarded to top-performing students in CUET, state-level exams, and board results. Special scholarships are also available for girls, differently-abled students, and achievers in sports or cultural activities.
