Major Dhyan Chand Sports University, Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) is a landmark initiative by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, established in 2022 with the foundation stone laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Named after India’s legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, the university is located at Salawa, Meerut, and is being developed on 91.38 acres at an estimated cost of ?700 crore. It is recognized by the UGC and envisioned as the state’s first dedicated sports university, designed to provide world-class education, training, and research in sports sciences and allied disciplines.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and research programs in areas such as physical education, sports coaching, sports management, exercise science, and sports medicine. Its campus is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure including stadiums, training grounds, gyms, hostels, and research laboratories, ensuring holistic development for aspiring athletes. Admissions Open 2026: Courses, Eligibility & Fees
Major Dhyan Chand Sports University, Meerut, was established in 2022 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is India’s first dedicated state sports university, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs in Physical Education, Sports Sciences, Sports Management, Coaching, Physiotherapy, and allied disciplines. Admissions are conducted through CUET UG/PG, state-level sports trials, and merit-based selection depending on the program. Eligibility requires 10+2 with relevant subjects for UG courses and graduation in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related fields for PG programs. Fee highlights show that UG programs cost between ₹30,000–₹60,000 per year, while PG programs range between ₹40,000–₹80,000 per year, making it an affordable option for aspiring sportspersons and professionals.
