Major Dhyan Chand Sports University, Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) is a landmark initiative by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, established in 2022 with the foundation stone laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Named after India’s legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, the university is located at Salawa, Meerut, and is being developed on 91.38 acres at an estimated cost of ?700 crore. It is recognized by the UGC and envisioned as the state’s first dedicated sports university, designed to provide world-class education, training, and research in sports sciences and allied disciplines. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and research programs in areas such as physical education, sports coaching, sports management, exercise science, and sports medicine. Its campus is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure including stadiums, training grounds, gyms, hostels, and research laboratories, ensuring holistic development for aspiring athletes.
