It is a central university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Minister of Education and a prominent freedom fighter.
The university was founded with the mission of promoting Urdu language, literature, and culture, while also offering modern, multidisciplinary education.
