Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, was established in 2004 as a Deemed-to-be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by regulatory bodies such as MCI (now NMC), DCI, INC, PCI, and AICTE depending on the program. MAHER offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs in Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Engineering, Allied Health Sciences, and Management. Admissions are conducted through NEET (for MBBS, BDS, and allied health), JEE Main (for engineering), CUET UG/PG, and merit-based selection depending on the program. Eligibility requires 10+2 with relevant subjects for UG courses and graduation in relevant disciplines for PG programs.
