About Mother Teresa Women's University
Mother Teresa Women’s University (MTWU), located at Attuvampatty in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, is a state public university established in 1984 under Tamil Nadu Act 15. It was founded with the vision of extending higher education opportunities specifically to women, empowering them through academic excellence and professional development. The university is recognized by the UGC and accredited with an A grade by NAAC.
MTWU offers programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral levels, with a strong emphasis on Women’s Studies, Science, Arts, Commerce, and Management. It also runs a School of Distance Education, established in 1988, which provides flexible learning opportunities for women across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
The Kodaikanal campus, nestled in the Palani Hills, provides a serene environment for learning and research. The university also monitors and offers consultancy services in Women’s Studies, aiming to promote gender equality and social empowerment.
