About Nagaland University
Nagaland University, with its headquarters at Lumami in Zunheboto District, is a central university established in 1989 by an Act of Parliament. It was created to expand access to higher education in Nagaland and to promote research and cultural development in the region. The university has multiple campuses, including the Kohima Campus at Meriema and the School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development at Medziphema.
The Kohima Campus, spread over 240 acres, houses 16 departments and 2 centers, offering programs such as B.Tech, M.A., M.Com, MBA, Executive MBA, M.Ed., M.Sc., M.Tech, PG Diploma, and Ph.D. courses. Departments include Agricultural Engineering, Biotechnology, Commerce, Computer Science, Education, Electronics and Communication Engineering, English, Geology, Hindi, History & Archaeology, Information Technology, Linguistics, and Psychology. The campus caters to hundreds of undergraduate students and over a thousand postgraduate and doctoral scholars, making it a vibrant hub of academic activity.
