About
National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Ropar, located at Birla Farms, Bada Phull in Rupnagar (Ropar), Punjab, is one of the regional centers of NIELIT under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. The Ropar center was established in 2016 and spans about 18 acres. It is affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala, and recognized by AICTE.
The institute offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programs in Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology. Popular courses include B.Tech, M.Tech, and Diploma in Computer Science, along with specialized training programs in electronics, IT, and emerging technologies. NIELIT Ropar also conducts short-term skill development courses, aligning with the Digital India initiative to enhance employability and technical expertise.
The campus is equipped with laboratories, classrooms, hostels, and digital learning infrastructure. Admissions Open 2026: Courses, Eligibility & Fees
NIELIT Rupnagar conducts admissions twice a year (January and July). Programs include B.Tech, M.Tech, Diploma in Computer Science, PG Diploma in IT, and Ph.D. programs. Admissions are based on NIELIT’s own entrance test, JEE Main (for B.Tech), and GATE (for M.Tech). Eligibility requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for UG programs, a relevant bachelor’s degree for PG programs, and postgraduation with 55% marks for Ph.D. programs. Fees are affordable compared to private institutions, typically ranging between ₹40,000–₹80,000 per year.
