Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), located at Sishu Bhawan Square in Bhubaneswar, is a public state medical university established on 5 March 2023 under the Odisha University of Health Sciences Act, 2021, passed by the Odisha Legislative Assembly. It was created to bring all medical and health science colleges in the state under a single affiliating university, ensuring uniform standards in medical education, research, and examinations. The Governor of Odisha serves as the Chancellor, and the university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and affiliated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). OUHS offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across disciplines such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Allied Health Sciences. It affiliates government and private medical colleges across Odisha, streamlining academic regulations, examinations, and curriculum development. The university also emphasizes research in public health, biostatistics, and clinical sciences, with initiatives like the ICMR-NAMS Biostatistics Helpline to support medical research and data analysis.
