About Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science & Technolog
Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science & Technology (PMIST), located at Periyar Nagar in Vallam, Thanjavur, is a deemed-to-be university established in 1988 and granted university status in 2007 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. It is named after Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, the social reformer, and Annai Maniammai, who carried forward his vision of education and social empowerment.
PMIST offers a wide range of programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels across disciplines such as Engineering, Architecture, Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, and Management. The institution is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by NAAC, with several programs approved by AICTE and other statutory bodies.
The Vallam campus is spread across 100 acres of eco-friendly surroundings, equipped with modern laboratories, libraries, hostels, sports facilities, and innovation centers.
