About
Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), headquartered at Administrative Office, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana, is a premier state public university dedicated to agricultural education, research, and extension services. It was established in 2014 by the Government of Telangana after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, inheriting the legacy of the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University.
The university was named after Professor Jayashankar, an eminent educationist and ideologue of the Telangana movement, in recognition of his contributions to the region. PJTSAU offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in disciplines such as agronomy, horticulture, agricultural engineering, plant breeding, soil science, entomology, and agricultural economics.
Its main campus at Rajendranagar is equipped with modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, research centers, and experimental farms, providing students with both theoretical knowledge and practical training. The university also operates constituent colleges, research stations, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across Telangana to extend its reach and impact rural communities.
Admissions Open 2026: Courses, Eligibility & Fees
PJTSAU was established in 2014 and is affiliated with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university offers B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Tech Agricultural Engineering, Diploma in Agriculture, M.Sc., M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs. Admissions to UG programs are conducted through TS EAPCET, while PG and Ph.D. admissions are based on entrance exams and merit lists. Eligibility requires 10+2 with PCB/PCM for UG programs, graduation in agriculture or allied sciences for PG programs, and postgraduation with 55% marks for Ph.D. programs. Fees are affordable, with B.Sc. programs costing around ₹40,000–₹60,000 annually, making agricultural education accessible to rural and urban students.
