About Punjab Agriculture University
Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), located on Ferozepur Road in Ludhiana, Punjab, is one of India’s premier agricultural universities. Established in 1962, it was inaugurated by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and has since played a pivotal role in India’s Green Revolution. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
PAU offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, diploma, and certificate programs in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Forestry, Home Science, and allied sciences. Its flagship programs include B.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering), and MBA (Agri-Business). Admissions are conducted through entrance exams such as PAU CET, AAT, and BSET, followed by university-level counseling.
The Ludhiana campus is spread across a large area and is equipped with advanced laboratories, research farms, libraries, hostels, and innovation centers. PAU is well known for its Kisan Melas (Farmers’ Fairs), where new technologies and practices are shared with farmers, strengthening the link between research and rural communities. In the NIRF 2025 rankings, PAU was placed 81st overall in India, reflecting its national standing.
Beyond academics, PAU has contributed significantly to agricultural productivity, food security, and rural development in Punjab and India.
