About Ravenshaw University
Ravenshaw University, located in Cuttack, Odisha, is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in the state and among the oldest in India. Established in 1868 as Ravenshaw College, it was upgraded to a full-fledged university in 2006. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC, and ranked among India’s top universities by NIRF. Guided by its motto “Jñanameva Shakti” (“Knowledge is Power”), Ravenshaw has long been regarded as a “temple of learning” in Odisha.
The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, and Social Sciences. Admissions are conducted through merit-based selection and entrance examinations like Odisha CPET and OJEE, while Ph.D. admissions are through UGC NET or the university’s own entrance test. The Cuttack campus spans about 87 acres and is urban in character, equipped with classrooms, libraries, laboratories, hostels, and cultural facilities. Ravenshaw University has nine schools and thirty-three academic departments, with nearly 8,000 students enrolled.
