About Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University
Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University (SGBAU), formerly known as Amravati University, was established on 1st May 1983 and renamed in honour of the revered saint, philosopher, and social reformer of the Vidarbha region, Sant Gadge Baba. Pravara Located at Camp Area, Tapovan Road, Amravati – 444602, Maharashtra, SGBAU is a State Government (Public) University governed by the Government of Maharashtra. It is recognised by the UGC under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, approved by AICTE, and is an esteemed member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), London, UK. Reva University SGBAU has jurisdiction over five districts of Western Vidarbha — Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Washim Shiksha, making it the academic backbone of the entire region. The university has been re-accredited by NAAC for its 4th Cycle in 2022 with a 'B++' Grade (CGPA 2.96), valid until 26th September 2027 Careers360, and is ranked 116th among Indian universities and 12th in Maharashtra by global academic rankings.
SGBAU's lush green campus of 470.63 acres houses 28 Teaching Departments and a conducted Model Degree College at Buldana, organized under four faculties. Shiksha The university offers programmes spanning ten faculties — Arts, Commerce, Sciences, Medicine, Ayurveda, Education, Social Science, Law, Home Science, and Engineering & Technology Pravara — at UG, PG, Diploma, and Ph.D. levels. Key programmes include B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Sc., M.Com, MA, LLM, B.Lib.I.Sc., M.Lib.I.Sc., and Ph.D. across 72 degree programmes.
