About Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), located at Jeppiaar Nagar on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR), Chennai, with an off-campus center at Vadamangalam, Sriperumbudur, is a private deemed-to-be university established in 1987. Originally founded as Sathyabama Engineering College by Dr. Jeppiaar, it was granted university status in 2001 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
SIST offers a wide range of programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels across disciplines such as Engineering, Architecture, Science, Arts, Commerce, Law, Pharmacy, Dental Sciences, and Management. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by AICTE, COA, DCI, BCI, NBA, and ABET, with accreditation from NAAC (A++ grade). The institution is consistently ranked among India’s top universities, securing 53rd place in NIRF 2025 and strong positions in The WEEK and Times rankings.
