About Shivaji University
Shivaji University (SUK), established on 18th November 1962 and inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India, is a premier State Government (Public) University located at Vidyanagar, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, named in honour of the great Maratha warrior-king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Wikipedia Founded through the pioneering efforts of Yashwantrao Chavan and Balasaheb Desai to serve the higher education needs of South Maharashtra, SUK is fully recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) and 12(B) and approved by AICTE, NCTE, BCI, and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB). It is a proud member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). Shivaji University holds the prestigious NAAC 'A++' Grade with a CGPA of 3.52 Shiksha, making it one of only a handful of State Government Universities in Maharashtra to achieve this distinction. It is ranked in the 151–200 band under the University category by NIRF 2024 and has active MoUs with premier national bodies including the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indian Institute of Geo-Magnetism, C-DAC Pune, and the Centre for Social Studies, Surat.
