About Shri Govind Guru University
Shri Govind Guru University (SGGU), located at Gadukpur in Godhra, Panchmahal District, Gujarat, is a public state university established on 28 September 2015 under the Gujarat Government’s Act No. 24/2015. It was founded to provide higher education opportunities to students in the eastern districts of Gujarat, particularly Panchmahals, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, and rural Vadodara. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has rapidly expanded its academic reach.
SGGU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs across diverse disciplines including Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Law, Health Sciences, and Technical fields. As of 2024, the university has over 286 affiliated colleges and more than 125,000 students enrolled, with a strong research base of over 1,100 Ph.D. scholars. Admissions are conducted through merit-based selection and relevant entrance examinations depending on the program.
The Godhra campus spans 142 acres and is equipped with modern infrastructure including administrative buildings, libraries, laboratories, hostels, and cultural facilities. The university emphasizes both academic excellence and community engagement, regularly organizing seminars, workshops, and extension activities. It also plays a vital role in regional development by focusing on skill-based education and outreach programs for rural and tribal communities.
