About Sikkim Alpine University
Sikkim Alpine University (SAU), formerly known as EIILM University, is a private university located in Kamrang, Namchi, District South Sikkim. It was restructured and re-established under the Sikkim Alpine University Act, 2021, passed by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, after EIILM University faced regulatory issues. The new institution was created with the vision of reviving higher education in the region through a modern, skill-oriented, and globally competitive framework.
SAU is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs across diverse fields such as Engineering, Management, Commerce, Law, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Applied Sciences. Its curriculum is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), emphasizing employability, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary learning. The university also integrates vocational education and industry partnerships to ensure students gain practical exposure alongside academic knowledge.
The Kamrang campus is designed to be eco-friendly and student-centric, featuring smart classrooms, digital laboratories, libraries, hostels, and research hubs.
