About Sikkim Global Technical University
Sikkim Global Technical University (SGTU), located on Link Road in Bhutia Basti, District Namchi (opposite Reliance), is a newly established private university created under the Sikkim Global Technical University Act, 2024 passed by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The institution was founded with the vision of delivering globally relevant, skill-driven, and technology-focused education to strengthen employability and entrepreneurship in the region.
SGTU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs across diverse fields such as Engineering, Information Technology, Management, Commerce, Law, Agriculture, and Allied Sciences. Its curriculum is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), emphasizing practical training, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning. The university also integrates vocational education and incubation facilities to support startups and skill-based initiatives.
