Sikkim Organic Agriculture University (SOAU), located at Pragati Chowk in District Soreng, is a newly established private university created under the Sikkim Organic Agriculture University Act, 2024 passed by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university was founded with the vision of making Sikkim a global hub for organic farming, sustainable agriculture, and eco-friendly innovation, in line with the state’s pioneering status as India’s first fully organic state. SOAU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs in fields such as Organic Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology, and Allied Sciences.
