About Sikkim Skill University
Sikkim Skill University (SSU), located at Namthang Bazaar in South Sikkim, is a newly established private university created under the Sikkim Skill University Act, 2024 passed by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university was founded with the vision of integrating higher education with skill-based, vocational, and industry-driven learning, making it a key institution for bridging the gap between academics and employability.
SSU offers a wide range of programs including undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral courses across disciplines such as Engineering, Information Technology, Management, Commerce, Law, Agriculture, and Allied Sciences. Its curriculum is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and emphasizes hands-on training, apprenticeships, and entrepreneurship development.
