About
Sri Sri Aniruddhdeva Sports University (SSASU), with its administrative office at the DICC Building, 2nd Floor, Chabua, near District Library in Dibrugarh, Assam, is a specialized state public university established in 2020 by the Government of Assam. It is named after the revered spiritual leader and social reformer Sri Sri Aniruddhdeva, reflecting his values of discipline, service, and holistic development.
SSASU is dedicated exclusively to sports education, training, and research, making it one of the very few universities in India with a focused mandate on sports sciences and athletic excellence. The university offers programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, in areas such as Physical Education, Sports Coaching, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology, Sports Management, and Allied Health Sciences related to sports.
The Dibrugarh campus is being developed with facilities such as sports complexes, training grounds, laboratories, classrooms, and research centers, designed to nurture athletes, coaches, and sports professionals. The university also emphasizes community engagement, talent identification, and collaboration with national and international sports bodies, ensuring that students receive both academic knowledge and practical exposure.

Admissions Open 2026: Courses, Eligibility & Fees
Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, located in Dibrugarh, Assam, was established in 2018 under the Assam State Legislature Act and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is India’s first dedicated sports university in the Northeast, focusing on higher education, training, and research in sports sciences. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programs in sports education, physical education, sports management, exercise physiology, and allied sciences. Admissions are conducted through state-level entrance exams, merit-based selection, and performance evaluation in sports trials. Eligibility requires 10+2 for UG programs, graduation for PG programs, and postgraduation with 55% marks for Ph.D. programs. Fees are kept affordable to encourage participation, with UG programs averaging ₹40,000–₹60,000 annually and PG programs around ₹50,000–₹80,000 annually.
