About The Bengal Engineering & Science University
Founded in 1856 as Bengal Engineering College and later upgraded to Bengal Engineering & Science University (BESU) in 2004, the institution is located at Shibpur, Howrah, West Bengal. It is a government university owned by the State of West Bengal and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). In 2014, BESU was elevated to the status of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, making it one of India’s premier national institutes of higher learning.
The university offers a wide spectrum of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in disciplines such as Engineering (B.Tech, M.Tech), Management (MBA), Science (M.Sc), and Architecture.
