Soundaram, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Nai Talim (basic education for self-reliance). It was declared a Deemed University in 1976 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and is fully funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC). GRI offers programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels across disciplines such as Rural Development, Agriculture, Engineering, Education, Health Sciences, Arts, and Social Sciences. It has earned an A++ grade accreditation from NAAC, reflecting its academic excellence.
