University of Allahabad, Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) is a prestigious central university established on 23 September 1887, making it the fourth oldest university in India after Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras universities. Located at the Senate House, University Road, Old Katra, Prayagraj, it was originally conceived as Muir Central College by Sir William Muir, the then Lt. Governor of the United Provinces, and later evolved into a full-fledged university. Recognized by the UGC, it holds affiliations with AIU, ACU, and NAAC, and is spread across an urban campus of 232 acres.
